During 2013, visual artist Hondartza Fraga has been artist in residency at the Maritime Historical Studies Centre at the University of Hull, creating works in response to the city’s archives and collections concerned with Hull’s whaling past. A Still Better Seaward Peep is the resulting exhibition of the project.

Including animation, photography and drawing, Hondartza’s work will be exhibited across 6 different venues including the MHSC, Maritime Museum, Ferens Art Gallery, Hull History Centre, Artlink and also a ship container specially installed for this project at the main campus of the University of Hull (Larkin Plaza). The residency has been supported by the Leverhulme Trust.
