North East Coast Town Revealed: Hull’s Second World War Records

After 3½ years of hard work by volunteers and staff the mammoth task of cleaning, numbering and indexing over 90,000 warden service personnel cards is now complete. This officially sees the end of our World War Two project which began in January 2012.

This successful project attracted much publicity and in 2013 it was awarded the Archives and Record Association National Volunteering Award.

The records catalogued during the project help to highlight the devastation wreaked on Hull during the Second World War and demonstrate the resilience of its citizens on the home front.

Thanks go to everyone who has helped with the project and made it such a success. To read more about the records available and how to access them, please see our source guide (PDF, 253kb, updated Jan 2016)
